Mutual Aid Cairo #2: One Child Starts Treatment, Another Still Waits
Behind every medical case is a family, a fight, and the quiet work of trying to save a life.
I was meant to write a paper about mutual aid—what it is, how it works—but to be honest, I’m just tired. Tired in the way that sits in your bones. There’s so much happening in the world, and the words I was going to write feel too far from the urgency of what’s actually going on. So instead, I want to give you a small update from the ground.
A few days ago, we were able to deliver food to our families. That was a good day. Thank you again to everyone who contributed—we were able to feed all our families for at least the coming month. Then we’ll do it again, just like we always do.


Right now, much of my time and energy is wrapped up in another medical case. Some of you might remember the little Palestinian girl who needed a stem cell transplant. After a long and difficult journey, she’s now in the U.S., and in just a few days, she’ll finally begin treatment. There’s still a long road ahead, but she made it. And we’re holding on to hope.
